A four-country alliance which teamed up to pre-purchase large quantities of prospective vaccines against SARS-CoV-2 announced its first major deal on Saturday. The Netherlands, France, Germany and Italy pooled their purchasing power to acquire between 300 and 400 million units of a vaccine being developed by pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca.
The first vaccines could become available in the Netherlands before the end of the year, if the vaccine trials are successful. It is currently being tested on ten thousand people, with the trial size expanding to 30 thousand people by the end of the month. "The risk of failure is present until the end in each of the development phases," the government stated.

ЗЫ. Одна из причин - количество тяжёлых случаев коронавирусной инфекции, требующих госпитализации, стабилизировалось на ненулевом уровне, похоже, см. тут. Похоже, будет колебаться туда-сюда вокруг достигнутого уровня, если "второй волной" не накроет.
